At Toorak Fine Dentistry, we offer a calm and relaxing environment for children dentistry in Melbourne. We have a designated play area filled with toys to keep your child entertained before their appointment. Our rooms are also clean and comfortable and fitted with a TV. We have a great selection of the most popular children’s movies and TV shows, as well as noise cancelling headphones to block out the unfamiliar noises of the dental chair.
Some children may feel anxious or frightened about visiting the dentist. At Toorak Fine Dentistry, we strive to make every appointment a special experience for you and your child. Our staff are kind and have worked with children for several years. If your child is particularly nervous about attending the dentist, please let our staff know over the phone so that we can tailor the appointment to best meet your needs.
From the moment those first teeth start coming through, you want to do all you can to protect your child’s teeth, but it can sometimes feel like a struggle to get them to understand the importance of good oral hygiene. The earlier you get them into good habits, the more likely they are to stick with them. You can encourage them by:
Bi-annual visits to a kid friendly dentist are essential from a very young age. Our dentists have plenty of experience working with younger patients, no matter how nervous they might be. In fact, the sooner you introduce dental visits, the easier it’ll be to get them used to it, and children often enjoy sitting in the big chair and examining the instruments.
Because children’s teeth are still growing and changing, they have a unique set of needs. Our kid friendly dentists will be able to give specific advice for your child’s age group, from teaching them to brush to orthodontic work, helping to keep their smile intact. Once those adult teeth start coming through, it’s essential to keep them clean and healthy, as they have to last for the rest of their lives, so pick up the phone and make an appointment for your child today.
Our kids’ dentist in Melbourne is highly experienced in techniques and new technology developed for paediatric dentistry. Our goal is to make every appointment fun and pain-free. We make use of the latest micro air abrasion technology which uses no needles, no drill and no vibrations.
Unless your child is in pain or has a broken tooth, the first appointment for your child at Toorak Fine
Dentistry is usually a check-up and clean appointment. This is a great way to introduce your child to our dental practice. A check-up will be completed by a kid friendly dentist and the teeth will generally be cleaned by a dental hygienist. We may also recommend taking paediatric x-rays to assess for decay or the eruption of permanent teeth.
At this appointment, we will advise you and your child of any children’s dental health treatment that is required, such as fissure sealants. Our rooms are fitted with televisions so your child can stay entertained during their appointment. We hope to make your child’s first appointment with us a positive and memorable experience so that they look forward to future visits.
If your child ever experiences severe tooth pain, contact our clinic immediately to arrange for assistance from our after-hours emergency paediatric dentist.
At Toorak Fine Dentistry, we accept the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) for eligible patients requiring children dentistry in Melbourne.
The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of children’s dental health services, including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals, extractions and emergency paediatric dentist services. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
Eligible children will have access to a benefit cap of $1,000 over a two calendar year period. To be eligible, a child must be aged between 2-17 years and their family must receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.
Families can check whether their child is eligible for the CDBS by contacting the Department of Human Services. General information about the program can also be found on the Department of Human Services website.
Each January, Services Australia (as part of the Australian Government) will check whether your child is eligible for dental benefits and will send you a letter. If you’re not sure if your child is eligible, you can check your Medicare online account through myGov or call the Medicare general enquiries line.
The CDBS will cover a fixed amount depending on the children’s dental health treatment provided. Prior to performing any treatment, our kids’ dentist in Melbourne will discuss the proposed treatment, the likely treatment costs (including out-of-pocket costs not covered by the CDBS) and how to claim.
