At Toorak Fine Dentistry we offer the Child Dental Benefits Schedule to eligible patients.
The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
Eligible children will have access to a benefit cap of $1,000 over a two calendar year period. To be eligible a child must be aged between 2-17 years and their family must receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.
Families can check whether their child is eligible for the CDBS by contacting the Department of Human Services. General information about the program can also be found on the Department of Human Services website.
Each January Services Australia (as part of the Australian Government) will check whether your child is eligible for dental benefits and will send you a letter. If you’re not sure if your child is eligible, you can check your Medicare online account through myGov or call the Medicare general enquiries line.
The CDBS will cover a fixed amount depending on the dental treatment provided. Prior to performing any treatment, our dentists will discuss the proposed treatment, the likely treatment costs, including out-of-pocket costs not covered by the CDBS and how to claim. We will ask you to fill out a Consent Form prior to the end of the appointment. We will also provide the appropriate information to organise your CDBS claim.
If you have any questions, please contact our reception on 9826 1725 to discuss CDBS at Toorak Fine Dentistry.
